An IT Systems Engineer is passionate about business technical support and client service. They work with IT Systems Consultants in providing project planning, implementation, systems configuration, and product purchasing support. The IT Systems Engineer will also work with IT Support Engineers in providing back up support, escalation management of tickets, phone support, remote management and on-site based IT support to our clients. This position requires experience in Microsoft Windows Server, Small Business Server, networking, desktop support and Client service.

This is a first level leadership position. Skills gained in this role; focus on enabling the team member to learn how to be a self-governing technology consultant. Success is dependent on strong communication, time management, proven technical troubleshooting and technical implementation skills. A desire to learn professional IT project management and able to follow, improve and create business and technical processes is required. This role will begin to lead IT projects and manage project team members and focused on improving the Client Service Ticket processes. The ability to own and enable the technical success of smaller less complicated Clients is expected.

Experience and Skills:

  • Backup support for IT Support Engineer and assistance when needed to support phone calls, open support tickets and address those Client requests
  • Responsible for leading, enabling and meeting our SLA goals for our service ticket processing.
  • Actively work with IT Support Engineers in meeting ticket processing metrics and client service goals. Provide backup and ticket escalation support.
  • Technical Client Ownership responsibilities for assigned accounts including compiling, reviewing and reporting.
  • Configuration, requesting & assembling quotes, installation and troubleshooting of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, disk drives, PCs, network servers, routers, and firewalls.
  • Organize and manage small and medium sized technology projects and team member project deliverables
  • Ability to diagnose advanced IT and computer systems issues; hardware, software, networking, server, VPN and operator problems.
  • Provide technical support both via phone and onsite service during the normal workweek
  • Install, remove, test and configure PC operating systems, software and hardware
  • Provide user assistance as needed on operating systems, software and hardware usage and procedures
  • Provide on-call emergency services after business hours, holiday and weekends as required
  • Must be familiar with all or some of the following technologies
    • TCP/IP network troubleshooting
    • MS Windows 7, MS Small Business Server and Windows Server platforms
    • Exchange server
    • Microsoft Office
    • Antivirus and Anti-Spam technologies (Symantec, AVG, etc, )
    • Backup software including Backup Exec
    • General networking and network administration
    • Firewalls (SonicWall, Cisco)
    • Ethernet Network Cabling
    • VPN remote access configuration & troubleshooting
    • Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, GroupPolicy
    • Virtualization technologies
    • Website implementation and administration (IIS)

Requirements and Certifications

  • 3 years or greater of IT Support experience
  • Certification: MCSA, MCSE or MCITP and Cisco CCNP, Citrix CCA, VMware VCP, Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC), PMI-PMP
